The Right Welding Process for Your Project
Welding is a process that is used to connect two or more objects permanently or temporarily. The main advantage of this process is that it is a very versatile and can be used to construct anything from large structural components to simple household items. Therefore, it is is a cost-effective and safe process used by many individuals and companies to construct useful things. However, it is important to note that not all welding is created equal. There are several types of welding that are used for different applications. It’s why it’s necessary to be familiar with the different welding processes and determine which one is best for your project.
Spot Weld
This is a basic process that uses a filler metal that is placed between the two parts that are being welded. The filler metal is then heated and drawn into the area being welded to fuse the two components together.
Stick Weld
This process uses a filler metal that is placed on the end of a welding electrode. The electrode is then pressed against the two components being welded and then slowly moved back and forth to weld the components together.
Tig Weld
This process uses a filler metal that is placed on the end of a welding electrode. However, the filler metal is then pressed against the end of the electrode and then twisted until it welds the components together.
Gas Weld
This process uses either shielded or open-arc welding. Shielded gas welding uses a gas that is used to vaporize the filler metal, while open-arc welding uses an electrode that is surrounded by arc that vaporizes the filler metal. The arc then passes through the joint to fuse the components together.
